There cannot be enough emphasis on the importance of daily water consumption. Each body needs 1/2 ounce of water per pound of body weight (i.e. A person weighing 150lbs needs 75oz. of water each day = 9 1/2 glasses of water.) If you are active and exercise, you need to increase your water intake even more. I know that seems like a lot; however, the benefits outweigh the cons.

Weight Loss
Water is vital for the body and burning calories requires a great deal of it. Water boosts your metabolism. It also can reduce hunger pangs acting as an appetite suppressant. (For one week, try drinking a glass of water before you snack or eat a meal and see how it affects the amount of food you intake. You might be pleasantly surprised.)
All of your major organs require water to function properly. Water is essential for your digestive system which flushes out toxins helping your kidneys function. If the kidneys are not functioning at full capacity the burning of fat gets put on hold.
Muscular Health
Plenty of water prevents fatigue and cramping in the muscles allowing you to exercise without problems associated with dehydration. Water assists building more muscles and cushions/lubricates your joints and muscles.
The body relies on water for every aspect of your being that necessitates brain activity: memory, motor skills, speech, etc.
Healthy Skin
Are you thinking a Botox treatment sounds nice? Try staying hydrated. When the skin is accurately hydrated it looks plump and more radiant...doing wonders for the elasticity.
Skin conditions such as acne, wrinkles, and dry skin are only made worse by dehydration. Water flushes out impurities creating healthier skin and body.
Energy and Stress Free
Since your brain depends on water for functioning, staying hydrated will keep you at your best mentally and physically, relieving the stress on your body. Energy production relies on water to transport oxygen and nutrients throughout the body. Next time you are feeling tired and inert, drink a glass or two of water and see how you feel shortly thereafter. |
